Simple Orange Zest Biscuits with Honey Butter

April 2, 2017 by Julie Ann Leave a Comment

Spring is here, and bringing with it many rainy mornings.  These are the most perfect of all mornings for baking something warm and delicious.  We are visiting family, which gives me access to an oven.  While traveling in the van, I really miss baking.  When an opportunity for baking arises, I take it.  This morning, that opportunity is here with Orange Zest Biscuits.  (No complaints from the locals so far)

Simple biscuits with just 6 ingredients and orange zest
Simple baked biscuits were one of my favorite breakfasts, when I was growing up.  We usually enjoyed them with a healthy slice of butter, and Mom’s homemade plum or berry jam.  Today, my favorite biscuit accompaniment is fresh fruit, and honey butter.

Orange Zest Biscuits are Quick ‘N Easy for any Baker

Only 15 minutes of prep time, and they cook in just 10 minutes!

This is a perfect recipe for sleepovers, and breakfast gatherings of all kinds. While you may end up with a bit of flour dust throughout the kitchen, you won’t be stuck in the kitchen baking for long.  The prep is easy, and the cooking time is quick.  So can spend more time tasting the biscuits, than you do baking them.

For these biscuits, I started with this awesome Basic Biscuit recipe, then switched it up with butter, and sprinkled in a full orange worth of zest.

Orange zest is a great addition to any baked good.  It adds the perfect touch of happiness to the oven.  You will be smitten by the amazing aroma that will fill your home, while these biscuits are baking.  A warm, orange and butter scent, that is sure to pull even the sleepy heads out of bed.

These would also be good with almond butter, or fresh jam, or even whipped cream!  What do you like with your biscuits?

I think I could make Avocado toast every day and n I think I could make Avocado toast every day and no one in this house would complain. Ever. But just to switch it up for kicks, I’m toying with some new toppings. It’s #allaboutthesauces and I’m currently favoring the creamy lemon and garlic (original flavor) of @bitchinsauce as a topper. All the details to follow 🤤
