Vanlife Log, day 22. On the road to Jackson WY! We had been winding in and out of the states of Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming for hours. We laughed as road signs continually welcomed us into the states. “Oh, hey, we are in Idaho again”.
Jackson Hole WY vs Jackson WY
It’s all Jackson Hole. Jackson Hole refers to a 48-mile long valley surrounded by mountain peaks, and includes the towns of Jackson, Kelly, Moose, Moran, Wilson, and Teton Village. Here is a good source for a bit more history here.
Baby finally fell asleep as we came into Jackson. We drove around to take in the town. Site seeing, and people watching to determine where a good place may be to set up camp for a couple days.
The town of Jackson provides quite a few opportunities to capture memorable photos with preserved wildlife.
There are a couple large stuffed animals throughout the town, like the moose above. As well as a huge bear in one of the shops, and multiple arches built of Elk Antlers. This particular archway leads to the Town Square park in the center of town.
There are 4 Archways throughout Jackson, built of Antlers shed by local male Elk (bulls). It’s estimated that 7,500 Elk spend winters on the National Elk Refuge, where they shed there Antlers in the spring time.

Four sister properties make up The Town Square Inns. They sit in the middle of town, with views of Jackson’s smaller ski hill, Snow King Mountain. We took a peak at two of these properties, The Antler Inn and The Cowboy village Resort. The Cowboy Village was booked, so we stayed at The Antler Inn.
The Cowboy Village has free standing cabins for around $100 – $140/ night They are very nice inside, and have cool fireplaces.
The Antler Inn has some rooms with fireplaces, but the Log Cabin looking rooms with 2 double beds are cheaper at $80/ night. The front desk offers complementary coffee and cookies.
