Camper Van Heat Options for Vanlife

April 4, 2019 by Julie Ann Leave a Comment

Over the last 4 years of Vanlife adventuring, we have used a few different Camper Van heat options. We started with a a couple down blankets and some snuggles. Then a simple electric powered space heater. Next, we installed a real wood burning fireplace. In our new van, we currently use a cheap lightweight electric…

Sprinter Van Project # 2

March 19, 2019 by Julie Ann Leave a Comment

NEW VAN!!! Last January, we sold our 158 wb Sprinter Van project to seek new adventures. What kind of adventures? We didn’t really know. It just seemed a change was due. We tried a few snow and surf trips car camping, and tent camping. The continual setup and teardown was a bit more challenging now,…

DIY Van Conversion Seats : Installing Passenger Seating

August 18, 2017 by Julie Ann Leave a Comment

Before this van became a tiny home on wheels, it carried a lot of cargo. In the van’s previous lives, it was used by FedEx, and a family run catering company in Arkansas.  Other than the two front seats, and some horrid linoleum flooring, the interior of the van was simply empty cargo space without…

Top Travel Cleaning Supplies for Vanlife

May 8, 2017 by Julie Ann Leave a Comment

In most situations, I lean all green, chemical-free, plant based, holistic and natural.  I hold my cleaning supplies to these standards as well.  Except, when we are traveling in the van.  Cleaning supplies for Van Dwellers and Road Trippers must be at a higher level of clean.  Travel cleaning supplies need to provide a sanitized…

Vanlife Log : MPH vs KPH Calculation

March 28, 2017 by Julie Ann Leave a Comment

Vanlife Log, day 14.  It’s 10 pm, the road is dark, and I’m tired.  Baby is sleeping, so we are trying to make up some road time.  This route has taken us uphill for what feels like forever.  The van is moving at a creepingly slow speed, due to how much gear we have it…

March 18, 2017 by Julie Ann Leave a Comment

Vanlife Log. Day 5. It is 6 degrees in the morning hours of Copper Mountain.  That seems like a good time to test out our new camper van fireplace.  We worked on installing the Dickinson Marine Newport solid fuel heater, all the way until the day we embarked on this trip.  The install is now…

Vanlife Log : Vanlife Staycation

February 28, 2017 by Julie Ann Leave a Comment

Vanlife Log, day 1.  The Van packed in disarray, we pulled out of our suburbian neighborhood to return to vanlife from a six month hiatus.  The sun streamed down in the high 70s, as if it had no idea we are in winter.  Our belongings bouncing about, we turned right, then left, and on towards…

Sprinter Van Conversion Kitchen Floating Pantry

February 25, 2017 by Julie Ann 4 Comments

Grab a hold of the handle, and with a precise pull, tug (and slight jiggle) the door of the windowless cargo van slides open with a squeaking ease. Nevermind the unfinished corners or hodgepodge of baby gear, the first thing to catch your eye now, is a touch of unexpected modern and class.  I present,…

Somewhere down a winding road. Off to the right, Somewhere down a winding road. Off to the right, then the left, the forest opens up to a dreary wet sky. A fast, stormy river swiftly moves past us, snatching up bits of forest in it wake, and taking them on its expedition of mystery. Up the embankment we stumble upon a tiny playhouse. Thick moss covering its roof, it almost blends right into the space it sits. Untouched for some time, like a fairytale. #pnwdream #intotheforest
What’s the oddest thing you’ve packed for a ro What’s the oddest thing you’ve packed for a road trip? Me? It was either be a large poster board of animals (the baby just loves it), or a gang of masks (oh wait that’s totally normal today), sourdough starter + pre-weight bags of multiple flours for feeding and baking, or maybe it was a bag of seeds and a glass quart size mason jar. Yeah, packing seeds might take the win here, but look at how well they did with some California sunshine! Wana grow some? Dr. Rhonda Patrick has a beautiful step-by-step free guide on how to do it on her website @foundmyfitness 🌱✌️☀️😘#packingessentials #roadtrippacking #broccolisprouts

8 months beyond when we had originally planned to 8 months beyond when we had originally planned to hit the road and we finally got back to that Forest air! It’s been slow goings with winter weather, this being baby’s 1st big road trip, and attempting school and work while in route. We’ve been averaging about 49 mph. 😂 I wore my iwatch and one day noticed I had done 5,670 steps. I hadn’t left the van that day. #adventurefamily #sprintervan
